Gifts of the Rain

Sparklers in the grass,
millions of droplets
twinkling like night stars

Branches hung with bangles,
a hundred prisms in every tree
winking colors of the rainbow

Shiny puddles for dogs and doves
to drink, to splash, to see
mirrored the world above them

Everything washed clean,
polished bright and new again,
fresh and growing fire-green

a National Poetry Month (April) coffeehour at Jamaica, VT by Poet Charles Waugaman
